Nigunim Chorus will hold its third annual weekend retreat, set to take place
Aug. 23 to 25 at River's Bend Retreat Center near the town of Philo in Mendocino
County's Anderson Valley.

The group, founded by Bay Area musician Achi Ben Shalom, is dedicated to
promoting and preserving Jewish and Israeli culture by singing and performing
folk songs in Hebrew and Yiddish arranged for parts singing.

The retreat will include classes taught by cantor Linda Hirschhorn, drumming
lessons by Jan Padover, dance and choreography classes led by dance teacher
Bruice Bierman and art making with artist Susan Felix. Achi Ben Shalom will
teach Jewish and Israeli folk songs repertoire. In addition there will be two
evening programs of concerts and singing around the camp fire.

In addition to music and art, the retreat will include six prepared meals, group
yoga, swimming at the Navarro River and hiking through nearby Hendy Woods State
Park.
